I - Peter van Markus - have been looking for many years to the male and female posterity of Peter Louissen van Markus and his wife Catharina van Wijck. They married 1717 and lived in the little village of Asch near the place of Buren in the province of Gelderland.
Peter Louissen van Markus and Catharina van Wijck bought in 1718 a small field under Asch and when they died the field became his son Peter Louis van Markus and his wife Jannetje van der Lienden. The posterity of Peter Louis and Jannetje dispersed across the surroundings and at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century a number of them settled in the bigger cities.
Andries van Markus, an other son of Peter Louissen van Markus and Catharina van Wijck, got - after he married a daughter of a watermiller - the same profession as his father in law in the polder of Papendorp in the commune of Oudenrijn in the province of Utrecht. The posterity of Andries van Markus and his wife Gerritje Verlaan dispersed across the surroundings as well and in later days a number of them settled in the city Utrecht.
Jacob van Markus, one of the sons of Andries van Markus and Gerritje Verlaan, married in 1805 to Catharina Reuvekamp. Their posterity lives in The Hague and also in an area in Zuid-Holland called the Westland.
You find the posteritytable of Peter Louissen van Markus and his wife Catharina van Wijck on the toolbar. If you have trouble finding your Dutch ancestors, try posting an article on the newsgroup soc.genealogy.benelux or other useful homepages or links.
